Central Montana Resources is focused on the exploration and development of Montana's Heath resource play. While its potential has been recognized for some time, development of the Heath is in the early stages. The Heath is the uppermost formation in what is known as The Big Snowy Group, which sits over the Madison Group in the Central Montana Trough. The late Mississippian Heath is the source rock for the high-quality resources produced from the conventional Tyler Sandstone formation. Today, the Heath lies just 3,500 feet below the surface and is a primary target in its own right due to superior geologic properties including high organic content, good thickness, brittle lithology and thermal maturity.
